One in four public EV chargers in the US is down right now (UC Berkeley). Our whole job is to change that. It's been a minute since our last update — and we've been busy. Here's what's new.
We won the MBTA
The MBTA picked Alwayz — in partnership with fleet-management platform BetterFleet — to keep its EV chargers running, systemwide. It's a three-year contract, extendable to five, to monitor, maintain, and repair the Authority's charging portfolio across its rapid-transit and commuter-rail lots. One number is written right into the deal: 97% uptime or better.
We're starting with the 27 oldest chargers on the system — 2012-era units well past their prime. We're ripping them out and replacing them with new, networked Autel chargers, and integrating directly with Autel so we know exactly what those units report and how to fix them fast. Riders get working chargers; we get a live read on the whole network and roll a licensed electrician the second something breaks.
What it means for both sides
For operators like the MBTA: one partner for the entire network — monitoring, maintenance, and repair — with every charger's health on a single dashboard.
For electricians: steady, skilled work on real public infrastructure, dispatched with the Operator Reported Problem, site details, and diagnostics to fix it right the first time.
There's a bigger play here. The MBTA is a pilot with BetterFleet — integrate our two platforms, prove the model on a demanding transit network, then extend it to more of their fleet customers. BetterFleet is one of several paths we're pursuing into the fleet world, where a huge share of the country's charging lives and where we see real room to grow.
Our first MAPC site is on the ground
Closer to home, the first site of the MAPC Community EV Carshare program is installed in Quincy, MA. It's soft-launched now, with the full public launch at the end of the month. Follow along at communityev.org.

Fresh in the product
The big one this cycle sounds technical, but it's foundational to our business: a new API gateway. Alwayz only works if it integrates cleanly — with fleet platforms like BetterFleet, charger makers like Autel, and the systems our customers already run. The gateway is the layer that makes each new connection faster and cleaner to build, so every partner we add is easier than the last. It's core to how we grow.
A few more highlights:
Smoother electrician onboarding. Joining the network is faster and clearer, from business profile to certifications to W9.
More automation in the work-order flow. Jobs move from opened to closed with less manual touch, so repairs move faster.
Clearer notifications. New unread indicators and deep links mean nothing important slips through.
What's next
